Neotel was established in 2005 as the second fixed line network operator in South Africa to compete with Telkom Ltd, the sole incumbent fixed line telecommunication provider at the time, and open the market to more competitive pricing.

AIIF, IDEAS and IEF’s equity interest in Kelvin was acquired in 2007 and disposed of in 2012.
