Albatros Energy Mali is a 90 megawatt (MW) HFO-fired thermal power station located in Kayes, western Mali and it was the West African nation’s first independent power project (IPP) to feed into the national grid. The project achieved commercial operations and started feeding power into the grid on 1 November 2018, ahead of schedule and within budget. Albatros sells power to Energie du Mali (EDM) under a [20] year long-term Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) providing affordable and reliable energy, allowing increased access to electricity for Mali’s citizens and enabling industry to grow.
Albatros Energy Mali also continues to make a positive contribution towards the development of the region within which the power station is located, Hawa Dembaya, through a number of health and wellness related community projects, including a community clinic upgrade, ambulance service, and refurbishment of drinking water wells.
