On the minds of managers in EMEA

AIIM’s co-MD, Olusola Lawson, was featured in Infrastructure Investor’s “On the minds of managers in EMEA” column.

The discussion touched on topics related to Africa’s energy transition including the impact of the war in Ukraine, the investment potential of clean energy assets and the likelihood of Africa achieving its net-zero goals. 

Discussing Africa’s transition to net-zero, Olusola explains “Africa is only scratching the surface with its generation capacity, producing 1% of global solar power when it has the potential to contribute 40%”.

He also notes that many African countries are “already at net-zero”. However, the challenge is to find “models which meet the continent’s development aspirations, but steer clear of the higher carbon choices” and this includes integrating renewable energy into the continent’s power mix.
