Octotel operates an open access fibre network in the greater Cape Town metropolitan area and other areas in the Western Cape. Its activities include building, owning, maintaining and leasing of fibre networks, with a focus on providing Fibre-To-The-Home (FTTH) and Fibre-To-The-Business (FTTB). Octotel operates exclusively in the Western Cape, including the greater Cape Town metropolitan area, Gordons Bay, Somerset West, Kraainfontein Melkbosstrand, Wellington, Mooreesburg, Grabouw, Bredasdorp, Struuisbaai, Stillbaair, George, Knysna, Plettenberg Bay and Bloubergstrand.

It operates as an independent fibre provider and rolls out its fibre network in partnership with community and local internet service providers (ISPs), using a wholesale open access business model.
