AIIM’s co-MD Olusola Lawson was interviewed by CNBC Africa in a segment titled “Rethinking Africa’s infrastructure financing.”
The discussion covered topics related to Africa’s infrastructure gap, which currently stands at between USD68 B and USD108 B annually.
Olusola highlighted the barriers to infrastructure development including the impact of the pandemic which has constrained government spending and the lack of local capital markets across the continent.
However, Olusola pointed towards Public- Private Partnerships, regulatory and licencing reforms, and the utilisation of pension fund capital as key tools to propel the development of infrastructure across the continent.
