OUR SHAREHOLDER

Initially established in 2000 as a 50/50 joint venture, AIIM successfully combined the experience of one of South Africa's largest financial institutions, Old Mutual with one of the world's leading infrastructure investment managers, Macquarie.

In 2015 Old Mutual Alternative Investments (OMAI), acquired Macquarie's 50% shareholding in AIIM making it the sole shareholder of the pan-African infrastructure manager.

Old Mutual Alternative Investments is one of the largest alternative managers in Africa with circa USD 6.8 billion in assets under management and a combined focus on positive returns and positive impacts in infrastructure, private equity, hybrid equity, diversified credit, affordable housing and schooling.

The acquisition of AIIM – a pan-African infrastructure investment manager – provides Old Mutual Alternative Investments with an established African footprint to further its vision to be Africa’s premier alternative asset management firm and, over time, to grow into other emerging markets.

Old Mutual Alternative Investment's investment activities have the advantage of the Old Mutual group's joint operating platform, distribution capabilities, comparative learning and specialist focus in Africa.
